We are looking for a Trade & Sourcing Associate Japan.

At our office located in Amsterdam, ECEM wants to strengthen the commercial team with a Chemical Trader & Sourcing Associate for our business in Japan, with potential to grow into an experienced B2B Trade/Sales professional within 2 years, to be relocated to our satellite office in Tokyo.

Objectives:
You will be part of a varied, multi-cultural team of around 40 colleagues who serve our global customers. We offer a versatile, fun job where you keep in constant contact with our (international) relations and your international colleagues.

In supporting our sales process, you are the linking-pin between logistics, sales/trading and supply chain, to ensure successful execution of our business and processing of orders. This means that you work accurately to enter orders into our ERP system and make sure all qualifications are ‘good-for-fit’ and provide a pro-active and excellent service to our customers. The target to our customers is always 100% OTIF (On time in full) deliveries.

In supporting our sourcing your contribution is to support our sourcing manager in identifying potential suppliers in Japan, coordinating tenders and offers, coordinating samples and quality testing, provide communication and follow-up. This requires insight, anticipation, pro-activeness and tactical insight and oversight. We are therefore looking for a candidate who keep a cool head; pro-actively collects, researches and analyse available options and effectively drives the sourcing process towards achieving a good result.

In the long run, we’ll expect you to use your experience and apply your commercial competences, to become our international Trader in Tokyo, experienced in sourcing and selling chemical raw materials to clients and negotiating agreements.

Your profile:
  • The candidate will show a proven track record within a sales / business development, whereby experience with chemical commodity trade of acrylic monomers, hydroxy and specialty monomers or alternatively polymers would be of particular interest.
  • Excellent, preferable native (minimum C2) command of Japanese combined with good (minimum B2) command of the English and preferably the Dutch (minimum B1) language.
  • Strong commercial drive and dynamism, good relationship building and oral communication ability (capacity to lead and control a phone discussion/closing to ensure efficiency)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to professionally communicate and interact with all levels of internal and external customers.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • IT literate, including all MS Office components; any previous ERP/CRM experience, would be considered very advantageous.
  • Currently living at commuting distance of our office in Amsterdam (near Amsterdam Arena) and minimum 32 hours a week available.
  • Willing to relocate to Tokyo within the next 3-5 years.
